YetmAyehu Foundation
Our work

Six years of quiet work. Now we're scaling it.

Delivered on the ground in Ethiopia by Cornerstone, funded by friends and family in Minnesota.

From roots to transformation

Driven by purpose, rooted in community.

YetmAyehu Foundation was born from a lived belief: education and healthcare are the surest way to break the cycle of poverty.

For more than six years, Dr. Yetmwork Berhanu and her husband quietly funded this work from their own pockets: medicines and equipment for hospitals and shelters, and reusable pads for schoolgirls, so no girl has to trade her education or her dignity for a basic need.

“When you educate a girl, you educate a family. When you restore health and dignity to a woman, you heal an entire community.”

Moving beyond relief to lasting change

Supplies save lives today. Lasting change needs more. We are moving from emergency aid to programs communities can run themselves, designed with local leaders, across three pillars.

Our pillars

How we restore hope, dignity and opportunity.

No girl should miss school because of her period.

Cornerstone sat down with girls, mothers, and teachers in Kambata to hear what period poverty really costs.

Why Ethiopia

When a girl stays in school, her future changes.

When a woman has healthcare and a way to earn, her family grows stronger. When a community can build its own livelihoods, the next generation has hope.

That is where lasting change starts: one girl, one family, one community at a time.
